Promotion of Cultural and Social Practices
Hi! I am Cindy Brandl, the housemother at AGR Kappa Chapter. August of 2007 was my first year to be a part of the young men’s lives at the house. I was excited then, and I continue to be excited as I look forward to growing and influencing the future alumni of AGR.
My parents, Richard and Edith Bunn raised my older sister, Carolyn, younger sister, Dixie, and me in the small farming community of Lenox, Iowa. After high school graduation, I attended Peru State College in Peru, NE and graduated in three years with two majors, Family, Home and Consumer Economics, and Social Work. I have made Lincoln my home since 1977, except for the 6 months I lived in Wasilla, Alaska in 2006. The big question and answer is that yes, I am a BIG RED fan!!
My oldest son, Kent lives in a group home in Lincoln and works in a workshop for “special needs” adults. Quentin, my youngest son and his wife, Makaila, also live in Lincoln and have blessed me with two grandchildren. Adin was born in March 2006 and Zoe arrived in October 2007.
In 1990 I began employment at Lincoln OB-Gyn. I have enjoyed the versatility of being at the front desk/reception area, answering 18 phone lines, working with 4 Doctors, 3 Certified Nurse Midwives, 7 RN’s and 8 additional staff members. There is never a dull moment around the office and there is always plenty to keep me occupied!!
I am active at Lincoln Berean Church and enjoy my Bible studies and being with friends for “food and fellowship”. I enjoy meeting people at the information center and love working with the nursery children from time to time.
A chuckle erupts when I am asked if I have any hobbies. I don’t think I have time for hobbies, but I do enjoy being with my kids and grandchildren any time I am able. I would like to be remembered as being a positive influence in their lives. You will frequently find me in the kitchen whipping up a batch of cookies or learning how to triple and quadruple my recipes. I enjoy traveling and seeing new places and meeting new people. Visiting friends and family gives me great enjoyment also. The more I am around the young men of AGR, the more I enjoy their company and becoming more involved with their activities. They totally amaze me with their abilities and accomplishments. They are very special young men, as I know many of you already know.
It is my extreme pleasure to be a part of the young men’s lives at AGR. I pray for each of them, and my desire is to know them well and to have them be a part of my extended family. I find it is difficult to remove the smile from my lips when I think of each of the members of Alpha Gamma Rho…I wouldn’t trade any of them!!
My door is open and ready for visitors, so stop by when you are in Lincoln and introduce yourselves.
