Kappa Chapter's annual Fall Philanthropy is Barn Party hosted at Uncle Ron's. Working with Uncle Ron's, we bring in a mid-level country band and raise money for the Children's Hospital in Omaha. Recent acts have included Casey Donahew Band (2011), Josh Abbot Band (2010), Stoney Larue (2009) and Casey Donahew Band (2008).
Hog Roast
Each spring Kappa Chapter hosts the annual Hog Roast in conjunction with Sigma Alpha sorority. Brothers butcher hogs and serve smoked pork at the Chapter House. Hog Roast raises money for the Farmer's Crisis Hotline. The agency specializes in helping farmers with financial and legal advice in times of trouble.
Farmer's Ball
Based on the success of AGR's fall philanthropy, Barn Party, Uncle Ron's has asked Kappa Chapter to host a similar event in the spring. Dubbed Farmer's Ball, AGR hosted Aaron Watson in 2011 and Casey Donahew Band in 2010. Farmer's Ball proceeds benefit the Lincoln Food Bank.
Adopt-A-Highway
Kappa Chapter has adopted a two mile stretch of Highway 77 North of Lincoln. Undergraduate brothers rid the ditches of litter on April 20 in an effort to keep our country beautiful.
The Big Event
The Big Event is an annual campus-wide service event centered on giving back to the community. It is the largest, single-day service project in Nebraska. AGR has strong ties to the Event, typically having a strong turnout of volunteers. AGR plays a significant role in the Event, as well. Kappa Chapter consistently has brothers on the Executive Team, and one brother currently serves as the Co-Chair.
